Wage agreement reached in printing industry
Employers in Germany's printing industry and the ver.di union have agreed on a new wage accord and a temporary extension of the collective bargaining agreement.
Employers in Germany's printing industry and the ver.di trade union have reached an agreement on a new wage accord and a temporary extension of the collective bargaining agreement following the third round of negotiations. The agreement stipulates a 2 percent wage increase for blue-collar workers effective May 1, 2022, followed by an additional 1.5 percent increase on May 1, 2023.
The agreement has a duration of 25 months. Furthermore, the existing collective bargaining agreement (Manteltarifvertrag) will be temporarily reinstated for 30 months. The Bundesverband Druck und Medien (bvdm) stated that the agreement provides companies with long-term planning security.
Dr. Klemens Berktold, who led the negotiations for the bvdm, described the outcome as a "viable agreement that provides companies with long-term planning security."
