Wallenberg Foundation Funds Quantum Research at Chalmers
The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has awarded significant funding to researchers at Chalmers University of Technology for quantum technology development. The grants support multiple projects over two years.

The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has provided substantial funding to researchers at Chalmers University of Technology and projects within the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT). The grants, ranging from SEK 1 to 4 million per project over two years, also include support from the Wallenberg Launch Pad (WALP) for commercialization expertise.
Among the funded projects at Chalmers are those led by Peter Andrekson and Andreas Nylander, focusing on optical amplifiers and tunable qubits, and Simone Gasparinetti, working on parametric amplifiers. Igor Abrikosov from Linköping University is set to research novel solid-state qubits for quantum communications.
The initiative aims to accelerate the translation of cutting-edge research into practical applications. The funding strengthens Sweden's capacity to develop future technologies in secure communication, scalable quantum computing, and high-speed data transmission.
This funding from the Wallenberg Foundation is designed to foster innovative projects, bridge the gap between academic discovery and industry application, and enhance national competitiveness in critical technological fields.
