Walmart Pistachio Butter Recalled Over Salmonella Contamination Risk
A pistachio butter product sold exclusively at Walmart stores, under the Bettergoods brand, has been recalled due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall impacts products sold in 19 states.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall for Bettergoods brand pistachio butter because of a potential Salmonella contamination. The product was distributed solely through Walmart locations across 19 U.S. states.
The recall was initiated after Walmart was informed that the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services detected Salmonella in samples of the nut butter. The product is manufactured by Italy-based Gustibus Alimentari Srl and imported by Boticelli Foods.
Salmonella infection can cause symptoms such as stomach cramps and diarrhea, and poses a higher risk to individuals with weakened immune systems, young children, and the elderly. Other potential symptoms include headache, nausea, and vomiting.
The affected product is Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter (NET WT: 6.7oz / 190g) with lot number LB028ACP04 and an expiration date of January 28, 2027. It was sold in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington, and Wyoming.
