Walmart recalls berry product linked to E. coli outbreak

Walmart is expanding its recall of frozen berry products after the Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend was linked to potential E. coli contamination. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the expanded recall on September 3. The product, UPC 7874211226, lot code 6040 01-6, with a best-by date of February 9, 2028, was sold at select Walmart stores across more than a dozen states.

This latest recall is an expansion of earlier actions initiated in July, which also involved other GreenWise Organic products. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the ongoing E. coli outbreak has resulted in 17 confirmed infections, with six individuals requiring hospitalization. While cases have so far been reported only in Florida and Georgia, the recalled products have been distributed more widely.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product are advised not to consume it. The product should either be discarded or returned to Walmart for a full refund. Health authorities continue to investigate the outbreak to determine the source of the contamination.
