Warren Buffett’s distinctive dietary habits draw attention

Investment legend Warren Buffett has reportedly avoided drinking water for nearly five decades, favoring soda instead, according to investor Bill Ackman.

In a recent interview on the 'Equity Mates' podcast, hedge fund manager Bill Ackman recounted a dinner with 96-year-old Warren Buffett where the business veteran revealed he had not consumed water for 48 years. When offered water during the meal, Buffett reportedly declined, opting for his habitual soda.

Buffett, who stepped down as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway last year, has long been associated with a diet heavy in fast food and sugary drinks. He has previously characterized a notable percentage of his daily caloric intake as coming from Coca-Cola, a brand he has championed both personally and professionally.

This personal preference has mirrored Berkshire Hathaway’s long-term investment strategy. The firm has held approximately 9 percent of Coca-Cola’s shares since the mid-1990s, yielding significant returns. Furthermore, the company’s portfolio includes several food and confectionery brands such as Dairy Queen, See’s Candies, and Kraft Heinz, aligning with Buffett’s documented taste for processed foods.

The investor's rigid dietary preferences have occasionally required significant logistical planning. During a 17-day trip to China in 1995, companions reportedly arranged for specialized catering, including burgers and cherry-flavored soda, to accommodate his refusal to deviate from his established diet.
