Wärtsilä and Mercy Ships sign lifecycle agreement for hospital vessels
Technology group Wärtsilä has signed a lifecycle agreement with the charity organization Mercy Ships International. The contract covers a five-year renewal for the hospital ship Global Mercy and a three-year service agreement for the newbuild Africa Mercy II.

The agreement includes a five-year renewal of an existing service contract for the Global Mercy, the world's largest purpose-built civilian hospital ship. Additionally, a three-year service agreement covers the organization's latest newbuild vessel, Africa Mercy II. Both vessels are equipped with Wärtsilä engines.
The agreement ensures the continuous and reliable operational capability of the engines on both the Global Mercy and the forthcoming Africa Mercy II. Mercy Ships provides free medical care and surgical procedures in developing regions.
Wärtsilä's lifecycle agreements focus on proactive maintenance and spare parts delivery, tailored to the client's specific needs. The objective is to maximize vessel uptime and minimize unexpected operational disruptions.
The order was registered by Wärtsilä in the third quarter of 2026. Mercy Ships vessels play a crucial role in delivering healthcare to areas with limited access to medical services.
