Wärtsilä completes joint venture transaction for Energy Storage business with RCT Solutions
Technology group Wärtsilä has closed a transaction establishing a joint venture for its Energy Storage business with German firm RCT Solutions GmbH. Both companies will hold a 50% ownership stake.

Technology group Wärtsilä has today closed the transaction for a joint venture concerning its global Energy Storage business. The agreement with German engineering company RCT Solutions GmbH was initially announced on June 15, 2026.
Under the arrangement, Wärtsilä and RCT Solutions will each hold a 50% ownership stake in the newly formed entity. This transaction signifies Wärtsilä's discontinuation of reporting Energy Storage as a separate business segment, following previous announcements regarding the segment's reporting status.
The deal alters Wärtsilä's organizational structure, as the Energy Storage unit will no longer constitute a distinct reporting segment for the company. Further specifics regarding the joint venture's operational plans or future projects have not been disclosed at this time.
Amidst the energy sector's transformation and growing demand for energy storage solutions, strategic realignments are becoming common. The formation of this joint venture with RCT Solutions is part of Wärtsilä's broader strategy to focus on its core operations.
