Technology group Wärtsilä has signed a five-year service agreement with Greek operator TMS Cardiff Gas to support the operation of two newbuild liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier vessels.

Technology group Wärtsilä has entered into a five-year service agreement with Greek operator TMS Cardiff Gas, aimed at supporting the operation of two newbuild liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier vessels. The agreement focuses on maximizing vessel availability and operational reliability through optimized maintenance planning, expert support, and predictive maintenance services.
The service contract covers the vessels' engines and power systems, incorporating Wärtsilä's digital services. Predictive analytics will be employed to identify potential issues before they arise, thereby reducing unplanned downtime and optimizing maintenance schedules. This capability is crucial in the context of growing global LNG trade.
The order was booked by Wärtsilä in the third quarter of 2026. The service agreement itself will commence upon the delivery of the newbuild vessels to the customer. Wärtsilä has not disclosed the financial terms of the contract.
As the LNG trade continues its expansion, vessel operators face mounting pressure to ensure efficient and dependable operation of their assets. Services like those provided by Wärtsilä aim to address these demands by enhancing vessel lifecycle costs and operational integrity.
