Water Treatment Plant Protects Concrete Durability with Additive
The Lexie Water Association Water Treatment Plant in Tylertown, Mississippi, commissioned in May 2026, utilizes PENETRON ADMIX SB. The additive aims to protect concrete structures from high groundwater levels and hydrostatic pressure.

The $2.2 million Lexie Water Association Water Treatment Plant in Tylertown, Mississippi, was commissioned in May 2026, aiming to provide reliable drinking water for the town and Walthall County. PENETRON ADMIX SB, a crystalline waterproofing admixture, was specified for the plant's concrete structures to protect them from high groundwater levels and hydrostatic pressure.
During the construction phase, ready-mix concrete supplier Jones Ready-Mix incorporated PENETRON ADMIX SB into the concrete used for precast manholes, wet wells, and cast-in-place structures. This measure was taken to ensure the longevity and integrity of the water treatment facility.
According to Penetron USA's Eastern Region Sales Manager, Richard Farmer, the admixture is non-toxic and certified for potable water applications. He noted its ability to permanently self-heal microcracks, thereby preventing water-related damage throughout the service life of the concrete.
The Penetron Group manufactures specialty construction products for concrete waterproofing. The active ingredients in PENETRON ADMIX SB form a crystalline network within the concrete matrix, blocking water and chemical penetration.
