WBBA Launches AI-Net Certification to Advance Intelligent Networks
A global data communication certification, AI-Net, has been launched to facilitate the transition towards intelligent, AI-driven networks.

The World Broadband Association (WBBA) has officially launched AI-Net, a global data communication certification. This certification aims to guide the worldwide transition from connectivity-centric architectures to intelligence-centric networks, accelerating intelligent transformation across the industry.
As artificial intelligence reshapes the global economy, the underlying infrastructure requires higher capacity, scalability, and intelligence. Traditional metrics like bandwidth are no longer sufficient to reflect national competitiveness in the intelligent era. The AI-Net certification focuses on three new core elements: national policy guidance, cross-industry collaborative ecosystems, and the penetration rate of Net5.5G.
The certification evaluates networks on two levels. At the macro level, it assesses the alignment of national policies and industry development efforts, including support for Net5.5G, IPv6, and intelligent networks. At the micro level, the IP Network Development Index (IPDI) is used to evaluate operators' contributions to the deployment of IP/Net5.5G.
AI-Net extends its scope to include data center networks and internal security systems, ensuring multifaceted alignment. The WBBA aims to build global consensus around the certification to accelerate the adoption of common standards and create an "AI-ready" network infrastructure for the future.
