WDR 2 Launches Charity Drive to Combat Global Hunger
German radio station WDR 2 and aid organization Aktion Deutschland Hilft are raising funds to combat global hunger. The campaign runs for five days from a glass studio in Dortmund.

German radio station WDR 2, in partnership with the alliance of aid organizations Aktion Deutschland Hilft, has launched a charity campaign called "WDR 2 Weihnachtswunder" to combat global hunger. The initiative will broadcast live from a glass studio in Dortmund from December 18 to 22, 2022, running continuously for five days.
During the broadcast, WDR 2 hosts Sabine Heinrich, Steffi Neu, Thomas Bug, and Jan Malte Andresen will present programming around the clock. The studio is situated at Hansaplatz, adjacent to the city's Christmas market and what is claimed to be the world's largest Christmas tree. The event will feature various celebrities participating in music and talk segments to support the cause.
Aktion Deutschland Hilft has selected several aid projects worldwide to assist those affected by hunger, in collaboration with WDR 2. The global hunger crisis has been significantly exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, the climate crisis, and rising energy and food prices. The organization aims to raise funds to support people in these crisis-stricken regions.
Listeners can influence the radio station's music program by making donations, with each song request tied to a donation. The public is also encouraged to participate with their own fundraising activities. The campaign can be followed via live radio broadcast, video stream on WDR2.de and the WDR 2 app, and through WDR television.
