WeChat for HarmonyOS Adds Custom Ringtone Feature

WeChat's application for devices running Huawei's HarmonyOS is now including a custom ringtone feature, according to recent reports. The update, which is currently in a phased rollout, allows users to set personalized ringtones for incoming calls and also enables friends to hear the user's chosen ringtone when calling them.

The new functionality appears within the notification settings, with an additional entry point in the user's personal profile. This feature addresses a long-standing request for more personalization within the messaging application, bringing it closer to feature parity with other platforms.

This development follows closely on the heels of another feature update for the HarmonyOS version of WeChat. Reports from earlier this week indicated that the app had also begun a gray-scale test for chat 'Live Photos' functionality, further enhancing its capabilities on Huawei devices.

These updates suggest continued development efforts by Tencent, the parent company of WeChat, to optimize the app for Huawei's operating system.
