WeChat HarmonyOS App Enters Invite-Only Beta
WeChat's version for Huawei's HarmonyOS has entered a closed beta phase, with an update to version 8.0.22.35 now available for invited testers. The testing period runs from September 29 to October 29, 2026.
IT Home, a Chinese technology news outlet, reported on September 29 that the HarmonyOS version of the WeChat app has commenced an invite-only beta test. The update, designated as version 8.0.22.35 (8394275), is available through Huawei's App Gallery for users who receive a specific SMS invitation.
The testing phase is scheduled to run from September 29, 2026, to October 29, 2026. Users selected for the beta must click the link provided in the SMS to initiate the installation process. This move signifies further integration of the popular messaging application with Huawei's proprietary operating system.
HarmonyOS is Huawei's in-house developed operating system designed to provide a connected experience across various devices. The availability of key applications like WeChat is crucial for the adoption and expansion of the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
IT Home also indicated that users can obtain the latest official internal WeChat builds by responding with a specific keyword to their official WeChat account. However, this particular beta test is restricted to invited participants only.
