WeChat HarmonyOS version tests granular notification settings for group chats
Tencent has begun testing a new feature for the HarmonyOS version of WeChat that allows users to receive specific notifications even when group chats are muted.
Tencent has introduced new notification management features to its WeChat application for HarmonyOS. The update, currently identified as version 8.0.23, includes a feature that permits users to define exceptions for muted group chats.
Under the new configuration, users can choose to receive alerts for specific events—such as direct mentions, group announcements, or messages from designated members—even if the overall group conversation is set to silent. This development is part of a broader set of updates released to harmonize the HarmonyOS experience with the platform's standard features.
The version 8.0.23 release also includes a range of interface adjustments, including better support for system-wide font weights, updated icon designs for public accounts, and enhanced text selection capabilities. Some of these features, particularly those involving AI-driven assistance, are being rolled out incrementally to users.
