WeChat tests AI tools for image editing and information extraction
WeChat is piloting new AI-powered tools designed to enhance images, modify backgrounds, and extract text. These features are currently accessible to a limited user group as part of a broader AI rollout.

WeChat, the Chinese messaging application, is testing new artificial intelligence tools that offer advanced image processing capabilities. The features aim to enhance image quality, alter backgrounds and styles, remove objects, and improve resolution.
Beyond editing, the AI tools can also extract text from images, summarize or translate visual content, and generate documents. Users can also add patterns and watermarks. This initiative is part of WeChat's wider deployment of AI functionalities.
Currently, these new image manipulation and data extraction tools are available only to a select group of users. WeChat has not disclosed a timeline for the wider release of these features to its general user base.
