Week's Largest Funding Rounds: Three Companies Secure Over $1 Billion

Several U.S. companies have successfully closed substantial funding rounds this past week, with three notable startups โ€” Hadrian, Base Power, and Valar Atomics โ€” each securing over $1 billion. These significant investments span sectors including manufacturing, energy storage, and nuclear power technology.

Hadrian, a developer of automated factories, raised $1.37 billion in Series D funding led by WCM Investment Management. The financing positions the Torrance, California-based company at a valuation of $7.87 billion. Base Power, focused on residential battery energy storage systems, secured $1 billion in Series D financing, coinciding with the launch of its Base Core home battery.

Valar Atomics, which is developing nuclear energy technology and infrastructure, closed on $1 billion in Series B funding led by Sequoia Capital. The El Segundo, California-based company also secured a $200 million credit facility.

Other technology sectors also saw significant capital injections. Lumilens, a platform for AI infrastructure connectivity, emerged from stealth with over $700 million in funding. Volta, developing AI cloud infrastructure, raised $300 million in Series A funding. Cybersecurity provider Horizon3 announced a $250 million Series E round, tripling its valuation from its previous funding round.

Additionally, live shopping marketplace Whatnot secured $545 million, critical minerals developer Mariana Minerals raised $310 million, and drug discovery startup LifeMine Therapeutics closed on $188 million. HappyRobot, focused on enterprise AI platforms, raised $150 million in Series C funding.
