Weixin adds separate entry for private Moments posts
Chinese messaging app Weixin has introduced a new feature allowing users to directly publish private posts to their Moments feed. The functionality is currently in a phased rollout for iOS and Android users.
Weixin, the widely-used Chinese messaging and social media platform, has rolled out a new feature that provides a dedicated entry point for users to post content exclusively to their private Moments feed.
This new functionality is currently undergoing a phased rollout, or "grey testing," for users on both iOS and Android operating systems. Previously, users had to manually select the "private" option for their posts, a process described as more cumbersome. This new feature streamlines the creation of content intended solely for the user's own viewing.
Tencent customer service confirmed the introduction of the private Moments publishing option, stating it is a recent addition being tested. Users can access this feature by navigating to their profile, selecting "Moments," and then choosing the "Private Post" option to compose and share content that will only be visible to them.
The company also noted that posts made through this private entry can be converted to public if the user decides to share them more broadly later. While currently limited to iOS and Android versions, Tencent indicated that support for other platforms, such as HarmonyOS, is planned for future updates.
