Weixin Input Method Update Enables Custom Device Names for Cross-Device Transfers
Weixin Input Method (WeChat Input Method) has been updated to version 3.5.2 for iOS and Android, introducing custom device names for cross-device transfers and improved image sharing for iOS users.

IT Home reports that the Weixin Input Method (WeChat Input Method) has received an update to version 3.5.2 for both iOS and Android operating systems. The update focuses on enhancing cross-device file transfer capabilities and improving the overall user experience.
A key feature introduced is support for custom device names within the cross-device function, making it easier for users to identify and manage their connected devices when transferring files. Additionally, users can now long-press on candidate words to pin them to the top of the list or remove them, streamlining the input process.
For iOS users, the update integrates more deeply with the photo album. Users can now share images directly from their photo library to the Weixin Input Method, facilitating seamless transfer to other linked devices without needing to save files intermediately.
The Mac version of Weixin Input Method, 2.2.1, has also been released with similar enhancements. It allows for direct "AirDrop" functionality when files are selected and offers custom device names for cross-device features. Voice input shortcuts have also been expanded, alongside general experience optimizations and bug fixes.
The cross-device transfer feature, known as "隔空传送" (roughly translating to "AirDrop-like transfer"), was initially launched in May. It supports sending images, videos, and files between linked devices without requiring mobile data. The functionality also allows users to share files with others by scanning a QR code, expanding its utility for inter-user file sharing.
