Wellness Founder Faces Charges for Alleged Unlicensed GLP-1 Sales

Priscilla Ann Hendrix, owner of Blackford Wellness in Asheville, North Carolina, is facing ten felony charges. Authorities allege she practiced medicine without a license and illegally obtained property through fraudulent pretenses by prescribing and selling tirzepatide, a GLP-1 injection, to customers.

Warrants detail five transactions between July and September 2025 where Hendrix allegedly diagnosed clients, prescribed the drug, and distributed prefilled syringes. Customers reportedly paid thousands of dollars for these injections, the source of which remains undisclosed. The prescription records allegedly listed Hendrix as a nurse practitioner or named another practitioner.

These charges contrast sharply with Hendrix's initial business description. When forming Blackford Wellness in October 2022, Hendrix described it as an "insured wellness center" offering non-medical body-contouring services and assured state regulators it would not provide medical care or require physician oversight.

The case highlights concerns surrounding the unregulated sale of prescription medications and could lead to increased scrutiny of the wellness industry. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
