Welthungerhilfe prepares aid for refugees in Sudan
The German aid organization Welthungerhilfe is allocating an additional 300,000 euros to respond to the crisis in Sudan. The funds will support refugees fleeing ongoing conflicts and seeking safety.

The German aid organization Welthungerhilfe is providing an additional 300,000 euros to address the escalating humanitarian crisis in Sudan. These new funds are designated to support individuals displaced by ongoing fighting who are seeking refuge in safer areas within the country.
According to the organization, approximately 20,000 people in Port Sudan have been without access to clean water, food, or shelter in public spaces for days. Many of these individuals had previously fled civil wars in Syria or Yemen to Sudan, only to be displaced again. Welthungerhilfe staff are also planning to assist those affected by the conflict's impact in the Kassala and Gedaref provinces.
Furthermore, the organization is preparing to support Sudanese refugees in neighboring countries such as South Sudan and the Central African Republic. "People are desperate, lacking everything necessary for survival: water, food, shelter, and medical care. Many have been displaced multiple times," described Michael Gabriel, country director for Welthungerhilfe, who recently returned to Port Sudan.
The power struggle that began approximately four weeks ago in the capital, Khartoum, has resulted in severe fighting and triggered significant displacement within and outside Sudan. An estimated 700,000 people have been displaced internally, and thousands have sought refuge in neighboring countries. Many have fled with few possessions and are in urgent need of survival assistance. Prior to the current crisis, around 16 million people in Sudan were already dependent on aid, according to UN figures.
