Wernigerode Car Dealership Focuses on Chinese Vehicles Due to Price

In Wernigerode, the Autohaus Heinemann dealership began selling Chinese car brands approximately four years ago. This decision was prompted by significant price increases from the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai. Salesperson Hendrik Langer explained that the aim was to fill a gap in the affordable price segment and retain customers accustomed to previous price points.

The dealership offers a range of vehicles, including electric cars, as well as traditional combustion engine and hybrid models. Langer highlighted that a major selling point for Chinese vehicles is their comprehensive standard equipment. Features such as parking assistance systems, seats with massage functions, and heated steering wheels are often included as standard.

Chinese vehicle imports held a 2.5% share of new car registrations in Germany in 2025. While experts confirm that safety standards are met, it remains to be seen whether Chinese brands can achieve substantial market growth in Germany. The combination of competitive pricing and high standard features is currently proving attractive to consumers.

Local services are also considering these vehicles. For instance, the fire department in Darlingerode is evaluating a Dongfeng pickup truck, citing its cost-effectiveness and suitability for their needs as key factors. The vehicle is seen as a practical and affordable solution for the department's operational requirements.
