West Virginia American Water Begins $700,000 Infrastructure Project in Glen Jean

West Virginia American Water has commenced a $700,000 utility upgrade in Glen Jean, West Virginia, aimed at replacing 3,740 feet of aging water main with new PVC infrastructure. The project spans McKell Avenue, from Main Street to Collins Hill Road, and includes secondary work on Pearl and Holcomb streets.

Construction began in mid-October and is expected to conclude by late April 2027. During the operation, residents may experience intermittent service disruptions, lower water pressure, or discoloration as crews integrate the new pipes into the existing network. Normal construction hours are scheduled for weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with site restoration planned for the following spring.

This project falls under the company’s broader 2026 capital budget of $129 million earmarked for state-wide system improvements. Over the last ten years, the company has invested over $805 million into West Virginia’s water infrastructure, reflecting a long-term strategy to address aging assets throughout its service territory.
