West Virginia American Water Opens Firefighting Grant Program

West Virginia American Water has opened applications for its 2026 Firefighting Support Grant Program, aiming to assist local fire departments and emergency response agencies. The initiative provides financial aid to enhance community safety and operational capabilities.

Grants of up to $1,000 are available to support the purchase of critical equipment, training programs, or other essential needs that bolster firefighting effectiveness. Fire departments and emergency management agencies must submit their applications by August 3.

The program is part of the company's ongoing commitment to supporting firefighters who serve on the front lines of community protection. "We are proud to support fire companies and their work with resources that help keep people, essential infrastructure, and community services safe," said Scott Wyman, president of West Virginia American Water.

Since 2013, the grant program has awarded 185 grants totaling over $157,000 to departments and agencies across the state. These funds have supported projects designed to strengthen local response and preparedness. Applicants are required to provide details about their organization, the project for which funding is sought, and the requested grant amount.
