Western Digital Launches My Passport External Hard Drive with USB-C
Western Digital (WD) has released its new My Passport external mechanical hard drive, featuring a native USB Type-C connector. The initial 2TB model is priced at 999 yuan in China.

Western Digital (WD) has introduced its new My Passport external mechanical hard drive, equipped with a native USB Type-C connector and a C-to-C cable. The company is launching the 2TB black model first, priced at 999 yuan (approximately $140 USD) in the Chinese market.
The drive utilizes a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface, offering a transfer speed of 5 Gbps. It includes AES-256 hardware encryption for data security and comes pre-formatted in exFAT. The mechanical drive is designed to operate within a temperature range of 5°C to 35°C and can be stored between -20°C and 65°C. Western Digital provides a three-year limited warranty for the product.
The My Passport (native USB-C) series will be available in multiple capacities, including 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, 5TB, and 6TB. Consumers can choose from three color options: black, cobalt blue, and red. The integration of USB-C aims to enhance compatibility with modern laptops and devices that increasingly adopt this standard.
