WhatsApp enables calls without requiring recipient accounts
WhatsApp's new guest calling feature allows invitations without app or account. Calls can be initiated via a shared link.

WhatsApp's new guest calling feature allows users to invite anyone to a call without requiring the recipient to create an account first. This expands the platform's accessibility significantly.
The new capability also means guests do not need to have the WhatsApp application installed. Meta added support for calls on the web version of WhatsApp earlier this year, further facilitating connections for those without the app. Inviting guests is done by sharing a call link.
Guests have access to the same call features as regular participants, including hand raising, screen sharing, and emoji reactions. All communication remains end-to-end encrypted.
However, an account is still required to initiate a call. Additionally, guests always need the host's approval to join. Guests enter a waiting room until admitted to the call.
