White House AI Chatbot Revealed Minecraft Easter Egg
The U.S. government's new AI assistant, America.gov, initially exhibited an unexpected response to prompts about the game Minecraft, revealing a quirk that has since been resolved.

The White House launched America.gov this week, an AI assistant designed to help U.S. citizens navigate federal agency information. Early users discovered an unusual feature: the chatbot would launch into a convoluted monologue when prompted to "play Minecraft."
This peculiar behavior, likened to a hidden Easter egg from the game itself, involved a winding discourse that mixed bureaucratic language with references to the game's world. The quirk appeared to be triggered by specific user inputs.
The issue now seems to be resolved. Currently, America.gov responds to all queries with a measured, official tone. When asked by Inc. to play Minecraft, the bot replied: "America is for official U.S. government services and information only. I can’t play Minecraft or help with games. If you have a government question—benefits, agencies, passports, taxes, or similar—ask that and I’ll share official steps and links."
The rollout of America.gov coincided with a new executive order mandating the use of "Super Intelligence" (SI) in lieu of AI across executive branch communications. While the Minecraft incident was short-lived, it highlighted unexpected aspects of government AI implementation.
