WHO Academy Expands Multilingual Learning Offer

The World Health Organization's (WHO) Academy has substantially broadened its multilingual learning capabilities, aiming to foster equitable access to high-quality education for health workers and decision-makers worldwide.

The Academy's online learning platform now features courses in 19 languages, with over 250 versions available in addition to English originals. Notably, 73 courses are offered in Spanish, 15 in Chinese, and three in Hindi. This expansion is designed to ensure that health professionals can access learning opportunities in their native languages, irrespective of their location or available resources.

Beyond direct translation, the WHO Academy employs a localization process, adapting educational content to specific cultural and professional contexts. This approach addresses challenges such as limited internet connectivity and varying digital access.

Technology, including artificial intelligence, aids in accelerating and scaling the localization process, though human expertise remains crucial for ensuring quality and cultural relevance. The expansion of multilingualism supports the WHO's objective of enhancing global health workforce capacity.
