The World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF have updated and released their annual estimates of national immunization coverage. These estimates, known as WUENIC (WHO and UNICEF Estimates of National Immunization Coverage), cover several key vaccines including BCG, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTP), polio, measles, and hepatitis B.

New interactive country profiles and PDF summaries provide insights into coverage levels per country and vaccine type. The estimates are based on data officially reported to WHO and UNICEF by member states, as well as data from published and grey literature. The updates encompass data up to June 25, 2025, with the next update scheduled for July 2026.

Without these estimates, tracking the effectiveness of immunization programs globally and identifying areas that may require additional support would be challenging. The data is crucial for public health monitoring and strategic planning, particularly in preventing the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases. WHO's Immunization Analysis & Insights Unit is responsible for the collection, analysis, and innovation in data use.

Additionally, resources are available detailing progress and challenges in achieving universal immunization coverage. Reports offer deeper analysis into data collection methodologies and user guidance for interpreting country reports. The WHO immunization data portal provides access to detailed information by country, year, and vaccine.
