Wido Sieberer leads Kitzbühel Museum for 30 years

Wido Sieberer, originally from Kitzbühel, has dedicated 30 years to his role as director of the Kitzbühel Museum, establishing himself as a key figure in the town's cultural scene. A trained ancient historian and archaeologist, Sieberer favors the museum's top-floor lecture hall for its views of the historic roof truss and the town.

The museum building in Hinterstadt, considered one of the oldest in Kitzbühel, is composed of three historical sections: a former town tower, a former granary, and a former forestry office. The renovation of the latter part was supported by the Museum Kitzbühel Friends' Association.

The Kitzbühel Museum features three permanent exhibitions. The history of Kitzbühel exhibition spans from the Romanesque period to the 20th century, detailing medieval and Baroque developments, alongside a prehistoric section with artifacts from the Bronze Age.

A dedicated winter sports exhibition showcases historical equipment and celebrates the achievements of notable Kitzbühel skiers, including the "Wunderteam" and Toni Sailer's Olympic successes. This section also traces Kitzbühel's transformation into a world-renowned winter sports destination.

Additionally, the museum houses the Alfons Walde Collection, featuring over 60 paintings and approximately 100 prints by the internationally recognized artist.
