Wiener Börse AG Acquires Majority Stake in North Data

Wiener Börse AG, the Vienna Stock Exchange, has acquired an 80% majority stake in Hamburg-based North Data GmbH. This acquisition expands the exchange operator's information business beyond traditional market data and strengthens its position as a European infrastructure and data provider.

North Data operates a company information search platform that aggregates data on approximately 100 million private companies across 26 European countries, drawing from over 160 public sources including national registers and EU databases. The platform provides financial information, corporate connections, and ownership structures.

The acquisition allows Wiener Börse to broaden its information services and further diversify its business into areas closely related to its core activities. By integrating extensive private company information with its existing market data capabilities, the exchange operator is enhancing its role in providing transparent and structured business information.

Christoph Boschan, CEO of Wiener Börse AG, stated that functioning markets rely on access to transparent and reliable information. He noted that the investment in North Data extends this principle beyond exchange market data by improving access to company information across Europe, while also strengthening Wiener Börse's strategic positioning and diversifying revenue streams. North Data founder and CEO Frank Felix Debatin indicated that Wiener Börse provides a long-term partner for the platform's continued development.
