Wildpark Aurach Showcases Local Wildlife

Wildpark Aurach, located near Kitzbühel in Austria, has opened its doors to visitors to showcase its diverse wildlife. The park is home to over 300 animals from 32 different species, with a focus on both local and endangered species.

The wildlife park was established in 1972 on the almost 300-year-old Branderhof farm, which has been family-owned for generations. The operation, which began with 10 deer, has since expanded to encompass a wide array of animals, including European wildcats, lynx, barn owls, and little owls. The park also houses endangered domestic animal breeds and more exotic species like Bennett's wallabies.

Wildpark Aurach is situated on a sunny slope at an altitude of approximately 1,100 meters above sea level. Visitors can observe animals such as deer and ibex at close quarters. The park emphasizes a natural encounter, with many animals roaming freely without enclosures, requiring visitors to stay on marked paths.

Today, Wildpark Aurach is managed by Andrea Pletzer-Gasser and her partner Mike. In addition to the opportunity to encounter the animals, the park offers scenic views of the surrounding landscape. The historic Branderhofstube inn is also located on-site, serving local specialties.
