Wistron opens $700m Texas plant for Nvidia

Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Wistron has established a new $700 million production facility in Del Valle, Texas. The plant is slated to assemble and test semiconductor products, primarily for Nvidia, aiming to meet heightened demand in the artificial intelligence sector.

The facility is situated near Austin and represents a significant investment in expanding Wistron's North American manufacturing footprint. The move is intended to bolster Nvidia's supply chain and potentially reduce lead times for its high-performance computing components.

Wistron, a major contract manufacturer for global technology firms, has been diversifying its production locations. The new Texas plant is expected to create hundreds of local jobs and signifies a growing trend of semiconductor-related manufacturing within the United States.

Production at the Del Valle facility is anticipated to commence by the end of the year. This expansion aligns with broader industry efforts to strengthen domestic chip manufacturing capabilities and serve the rapidly growing AI and data center markets.
