Wolters Kluwer Highlights Practical AI Use in Public Administration

Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory Germany has showcased the GovTech Prompt-a-thon 2026 as an example of how public administration, technology specialists, legal experts, and project managers can collaborate to develop practical digital solutions for real administrative challenges.

The third edition of the event brought together more than 50 participants to address issues including process automation, citizen-centred communication, and responsible AI design. One winning team developed an agentic AI workflow for checking the completeness of applications, while other groups explored methods that retain human review through a digital "four-eyes principle."

According to Wolters Kluwer, AI should be used to solve specific problems, reduce routine processing time, and help public sector employees focus on work requiring expertise, judgment, and responsibility. This is particularly relevant as administrations face skills shortages and rising expectations for efficient digital services.

The event demonstrated that AI can drive efficiency gains without removing the need for human oversight, accountability, and professional judgment. It also emphasized the importance of combining technology, teamwork, and subject-matter expertise to advance digital transformation in the public sector from broad ambition to usable solutions.
