WorkForge Releases Workforce Competency Platform for Food Manufacturers
WorkForge has launched a new platform, WorkForge Shift, designed to manage employee training, skills validation, and regulatory compliance in the food and beverage industry.
WorkForge introduced its new training and competency platform, WorkForge Shift, at the American Food Manufacturing Summit 2027 in Kansas City. The software is aimed at food and beverage producers currently facing high turnover rates and the upcoming retirement of a significant portion of their workforce.
Industry data suggests food manufacturers face an average annual turnover of 40%, with approximately 25% of plant workers expected to retire by 2030. These demographic shifts create urgent needs for efficient onboarding and the retention of institutional knowledge. Unlike conventional learning management systems that prioritize course completion metrics, WorkForge Shift focuses on validating that workers can safely perform specific job functions.
"Training is too often measured by completion rather than competency," said Laura Dunn Nelson, Vice President of Product Management at WorkForge. The platform allows supervisors to document practical skills, manage recertification, and maintain audit-ready records in a single system. It supports over 20 languages and includes tools for automating learning plans based on specific roles.
The platform is designed to consolidate training, food safety compliance, and skills management. By moving beyond traditional compliance models, WorkForge aims to assist plant leadership and HR teams in maintaining operational consistency.
