Saalfelden Leogang, Austria, was the host for the 2015 World Beard Championships in October, drawing 318 contestants from 20 countries to showcase their facial hair artistry. An international jury awarded 18 world titles in main categories including mustache, chin curtain, and full beard, as well as trend beard styles.

The competition saw a large audience of approximately 1,500 spectators. Contestants worked for hours, often with dedicated stylists, using hairspray, gel, and beard wax to achieve intricate styles, with some beards spanning up to 1.2 meters.

The United States emerged as the most successful nation, securing six world championship titles. Germany followed with five titles, and Austria with four. Marco Pointer, Managing Director of Saalfelden Leogang Touristik, highlighted the event's value in generating positive international media attention and promoting the Saalfelden Leogang region.

Saalfelden Leogang has prior experience hosting similar events, having previously organized the Beard Olympiad in 2005 and the European Beard Championships in 2010. The 2015 World Championships further solidified the area's reputation for successfully staging unique international competitions.
