World Broadband Association Launches AI-Net Certification for Data Communication Networks
The World Broadband Association (WBBA) has launched AI-Net, a global certification aimed at guiding data communication networks toward intelligence-based architectures.

The World Broadband Association (WBBA) has officially launched AI-Net, a globally recognized certification for data communication networks. The initiative aims to guide countries and operators worldwide in transitioning their infrastructure from connectivity-centric to intelligence-centric models.
The certification was unveiled at the Broadband Development Summit in the Asia-Pacific region. It seeks to advance global infrastructure into an era of "everything by intelligence" and accelerate the evolution of network technologies, including the adoption of Net5.5G.
AI-Net certification is built on three pillars: guiding national policy, fostering collaborative industry ecosystems, and measuring the penetration of Net5.5G networks. This system quantifies technological maturity and aims to speed up the global deployment of Net5.5G. The assessment includes macro-level factors like policy frameworks and ecosystem contributions, as well as micro-level metrics such as the IP Network Development Index for operators.
According to WBBA Director General Martin Creaner, AI-Net serves as a trusted standard transforming industry progress toward the networks of 2030. The WBBA intends to use this certification to build global consensus among policymakers, standardization bodies, and leading operators, promoting a unified, AI-ready network foundation.
