The 2026 World Manufacturing Convention, held in Hefei, China, from September 20-23, concluded with significant business agreements. Organizers announced that 790 project agreements were secured during the event, totaling RMB 363.4 billion (approximately US$54.2 billion).
The convention, themed "Intelligent Manufacturing for a Better Future," brought together industry professionals and companies from 54 countries and regions. The program featured keynote speeches, business matchmaking sessions, the release of research data, and exhibitions. Among the innovations displayed were a 180-qubit superconducting quantum processor and a superconducting tokamak for burning plasma experiments.
Out of the 790 projects, 708 were focused on advanced manufacturing, representing a value of RMB 331.7 billion. The agreements also included a line for advanced semiconductor research, development, and manufacturing. The convention aimed to foster investment and cross-border industrial cooperation, highlighting the strengths of China's manufacturing sector, particularly in Anhui province.
The event attracted over 74,000 in-person visitors and 4.54 million online participants. More than 160 technologies, products, reports, and case studies were released. The convention sought to solidify China's role as a global manufacturing hub and advance future intelligent manufacturing solutions.
