World Robot Games for Humanoids to Commence in August

The second World Robot Games for humanoids is scheduled to take place at the National Speed Skating Oval "Ice Ribbon" in Beijing from August 22 to 26. The event is expected to bring together participants from various countries to compete in advanced robotics capabilities.

The competition will feature 50 events, divided into 29 athletic competitions and 21 scenario-based competitions. In the athletic events, the 100-meter, 400-meter, 1500-meter, and 4x100-meter relay races will all be upgraded to "fully autonomous" mode, requiring robots to rely entirely on their own perception and decision-making systems to complete the races.

Newly introduced events include table tennis, which demands robots to possess millisecond-level dynamic response capabilities for prediction, decision-making, and striking. Free combat events will test robots' dynamic balance control and anti-interference abilities during confrontations. Additionally, events such as tug-of-war, pitch-pot, and weightlifting have been added.

The scenario competitions will cover nine real-world scenarios, including household cleaning, hotel services, industrial production, emergency rescue, and retail management. Some of these will be held in actual environments, like a library or hotel, while others will be simulated in a 1:1 replica environment at the venue. Ticket prices start at 98 yuan.
