World War Z Sequel Confirmed with Brad Pitt Returning

Paramount Pictures has confirmed the key personnel for its upcoming sequel to "World War Z." Brad Pitt is returning to star and produce the film, which will be directed by Edward Berger and written by Dennis Kelly.

The original "World War Z," based on Max Brooks' 2006 novel, was released in 2013 and grossed over $540 million worldwide. Pitt starred as former UN investigator Gerry Lane, who sought clues to a global zombie pandemic.

The development of the sequel has been in progress for over a decade. Pitt had previously sought to have David Fincher direct, but the project stalled due to budget disagreements. The sequel gained new momentum last summer when Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg became co-chairs of Paramount Pictures and prioritized the film's production.
