World's First All-Weather Airship Launched in Sichuan, China

Beijing Yufeng Flight Technology Company announced the launch of the Cloud Sentinel M1000-CNS on September 22 in Rongxian, Sichuan province, China. The company describes the airship as the world's first capable of operating in all weather conditions. It is designed for continuous airborne operation for up to five years and has a stated coverage area of approximately 2,000 square kilometers.

The airship measures 21 meters in diameter and 24 meters in length. It integrates multiple functions, including communication relay, navigation enhancement, broad-area surveillance, and meteorological detection. Its design allows it to withstand challenging weather, such as wind, rain, snow, and lightning.

According to the company, the Cloud Sentinel M1000-CNS operates at kilometer altitudes and can carry a payload exceeding 300 kilograms. It utilizes an innovative structural design combining rigid and flexible elements. The projected airborne duration is five years, with an estimated overall service life of 20 years.

The platform consolidates five core functions: communication relay, navigation augmentation, full-domain surveillance, weather sensing, and counter-sensing capabilities. It is presented as a rapidly deployable, modular solution. The airship can provide differential navigation enhancements with centimeter-level accuracy and monitor low-altitude unauthorized flight activities across its coverage area.
