World's Largest Piling Vessel Departs China for Brazilian Bridge Construction
China's self-developed, largest piling vessel has been dispatched from Jiangsu to Brazil to participate in the Salvador Cross-Sea Bridge construction. The vessel measures 130.5 meters in length with a 156-meter-high piling frame.
IT Home reported on September 27 that China's self-developed, world's largest piling vessel has departed from Jiangsu, China. The vessel is en route to Brazil to participate in the construction of the Salvador Cross-Sea Bridge, marking a significant advancement for the nation's high-end marine engineering equipment in overseas infrastructure projects.
The piling vessel is designed for offshore operations, accurately driving large piles into the seabed. According to the report, the vessel is 130.5 meters long, with a piling frame height of 156 meters. It can operate at water depths of up to 70 meters and possesses a lifting capacity of 700 tons, making it the piling vessel with the tallest piling frame, largest lifting capacity, and deepest operating depth globally.
Key technologies incorporated include a fusion of dynamic and anchor positioning systems, coupled with China's Beidou high-precision satellite navigation system, achieving centimeter-level accuracy for piling. It also features a newly applied closed hydraulic system that enhances energy recovery by 40%. The design, production of core components, and maintenance have all been managed domestically.
The Salvador Cross-Sea Bridge spans Brazil's largest bay, the Baía de Todos os Santos. Upon completion, it is expected to reduce travel time between Salvador city and the city of Veracruz from approximately one hour by ferry to about 15 minutes, significantly shortening cargo transport distances for regional agricultural products.
