Wuhan to Build 6G Industry Test Zone and Network
A new 6G industry test zone is being established in Wuhan's Guanggu area. The project will include the construction of China's largest planned 6G integrated experimental network, expected to be completed in 2027.
A dedicated 6G industry test zone is set to be built in Wuhan's Optics Valley (Guanggu), China. The initiative is led by Hubei Mobile in collaboration with industry partners such as CCT Mobile, ZGC PAII, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
The project aims to create China's largest planned 6G integrated experimental network, along with other key infrastructures. These include facilities for 6G communication, sensing, intelligent computing convergence, and an open testing environment for 6G intelligent surfaces. The network is scheduled for completion by 2027.
The test zone will cover approximately 3.3 square kilometers within the Wuhan Future Science and Technology City. Deployment of 6G outdoor base stations will ensure comprehensive coverage across the park. This initiative seeks to integrate technology research, experimental validation, application deployment, and industrial clustering.
Furthermore, the project will establish pilot testing platforms for 6G communication-sensing-computing convergence and intelligent surfaces. These platforms will offer low-cost, high-efficiency technical validation and product testing services for companies across the industry chain. The goal is to reduce R&D barriers, foster an indigenous and controllable industrial ecosystem, and promote the commercialization of technological achievements and the development of international standards.
