Wuling Industrial Launches Mass Production of New Two-Speed Electric Drive Axle
Wuling Industrial has begun mass production of a new generation electric drive axle in China, featuring an intelligent two-speed system for off-road vehicles and pickups.

Wuling Industrial announced the start of mass production for its new generation, two-speed, coaxial electric drive axle. This component is designed to provide powertrain solutions for the demanding off-road vehicle, pickup truck, and special engineering vehicle markets.
The newly launched fifth-generation axle represents a significant technological leap from traditional fixed-ratio drive axles. It incorporates an independent shifting mechanism for the first time, enabling a transition from a single fixed ratio to an intelligent two-speed system. This marks the first large-scale implementation of such technology in China within the coaxial axle category.
The axle features a compact, coaxial design that ensures broad compatibility with various suspension types. The two-speed mechanism, utilizing a planetary gear set and synchronizer, offers strong torque output at low speeds for enhanced traction and improved transmission efficiency at high speeds. It delivers a peak wheel-end torque of 6,000 Nm and a maximum power output of 150 kW.
This development addresses the growing demand for high-load capacity, high-torque, and efficient powertrains in electric off-road vehicles and pickup trucks. Wuling Industrial, part of Guangxi Automobile Group and Wuling Motors Holdings, is a key component supplier within China's automotive sector.
