Xbox Launches New Division for Film and TV Content
Xbox is establishing a new division, named "XP," to develop film and TV adaptations, consumer products, live events, and creator partnerships, expanding beyond video games.

Microsoft's Xbox has officially launched a new division called "XP," signaling a significant expansion of its strategy beyond video games. This new entity will centralize efforts in creating films, television adaptations, consumer products, live events, and strategic brand partnerships.
The XP division consolidates existing, but previously fragmented, operations within Xbox. According to Xbox's chief strategy officer Matthew Ball, the division will focus on four key investment areas: Xbox Pictures for linear storytelling, Xbox Products for authentic merchandise, Xbox Events for live experiences, and Xbox Partnerships for collaborations.
Xbox Pictures aims to bring Xbox's established game worlds and characters to new audiences through film and television. Projects reportedly in development include "A Minecraft Movie" and a "Halo" television series. The goal is to leverage the company's intellectual property across multiple entertainment formats.
This strategic move by Xbox indicates a broader ambition to diversify its entertainment offerings and engage with consumers through various media channels. The creation of XP underscores a commitment to building franchises and extending the reach of its popular gaming universes into the wider entertainment landscape.
