XCMG Commences New Energy Vehicle Production in Indonesia

Chinese construction machinery manufacturer XCMG (SHE: 000425) has commenced production of new energy vehicles at its Indonesian facility. The plant is situated within the Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) in the North Maluku province.

The company held an inauguration ceremony for the production site on July 27. This marks XCMG's first overseas production base dedicated to new energy vehicles. The investment is part of XCMG's global expansion strategy, aiming to tap into Indonesia's growing market and its natural resources.

The facility is set to focus on manufacturing electric-powered construction machinery and vehicles. Specific details regarding the models to be produced or the plant's production capacity have not yet been disclosed. XCMG is one of the world's largest construction equipment manufacturers, and this new plant strengthens its position in Southeast Asian markets.

The company has not revealed the exact investment sum or the number of employees at the facility. Local natural resources, such as nickel, are expected to be utilized in the production process. Indonesia possesses significant mineral reserves crucial for the battery industry and electric vehicle manufacturing.
