Xiao County Hosts 21-Day Festival to Boost Mutton Culture and Tourism

Xiao County, located in China's eastern Anhui Province, is currently hosting a 21-day Mutton Culture Festival, which runs until August 4. The event, which kicked off on July 15 as part of the 2026 Xiao County Fuyang Cultural Festival, aims to promote the county's long-standing mutton-eating traditions.

The festival highlights local culinary heritage, featuring a diverse array of mutton dishes, including the renowned local mutton soup. Food streets in the county are bustling with visitors exploring the regional flavors.

A variety of activities are taking place, including cultural performances, exhibitions of intangible cultural heritage, sports carnivals, and sales of local produce. Light and shadow shows depicting historical figures and local opera have attracted significant attention.

Further celebrations are occurring at various sites within Xiao County, such as the Shengquan Ancient Town and the Huangcangyu Scenic Area.
