Xiaomi acquires 5.34% stake in Sunwoda Mobility for RMB 1.7 billion
Xiaomi is purchasing a 5.34% interest in electric vehicle battery manufacturer Sunwoda Mobility through its investment arm, further integrating the supplier into its automotive supply chain.

Xiaomi has committed RMB 1.7 billion to acquire a 5.34% stake in Sunwoda Mobility, according to regulatory filings submitted by parent firm Sunwoda Electronic. The investment is structured as a subscription for newly issued shares.
The transaction triggers a shift in corporate governance for Sunwoda Mobility. Following a board restructuring, Sunwoda Electronic will no longer hold a majority of board seats, causing the battery subsidiary to be deconsolidated from the parent firm’s financial reporting.
This move strengthens the operational link between Xiaomi and Sunwoda, which is already a key partner in the development of Xiaomi’s Dragon Armor battery technology. The partnership signals Xiaomi's strategy to secure its supply chain as it scales its electric vehicle production operations.
