Chinese technology firm Xiaomi has expanded its battery upgrade service to include the Civi 4 Pro and Redmi K70 smartphone models. This offering allows users to have their existing batteries replaced with new units that provide higher power capacity. The service follows similar upgrades previously introduced for the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro.

The standard price for this battery upgrade service is 189 Chinese yuan. During a promotional period from October 1st to 7th, the service is available at a discounted rate of 151.2 yuan, representing a 20% reduction. The capacity increase for the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro is from 4700mAh to 4930mAh, while the Redmi K70 sees its battery go from 5000mAh to 5220mAh.

This battery upgrade service differs from a standard battery replacement by providing a higher-capacity battery within the same device dimensions. Xiaomi has indicated that it uses batteries with higher energy density. The company previously announced similar upgrade services for its Xiaomi 13 series. To ensure compatibility and safety, users are required to update their device's system software before the upgrade.

While specific timelines for other models, such as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, remain unannounced, the company aims to enhance device longevity and user experience through such upgrade options. The initiative reflects a broader trend of offering extended product life cycles and performance improvements for consumer electronics.
