Xiaomi Auto has announced an extended service interval of three years or 30,000 kilometers for the range extenders in its Pengcheng series vehicles, applicable after the initial service.

The Chinese automaker has deepened its collaboration with Dong'an Power, customizing the range extender engine. This engine features optimized designs across 57 components, with a focus on seven core parts that constitute nearly half the unit's cost, aimed at reducing operational wear and enabling longer service intervals.

To support these extended intervals, Xiaomi Auto has partnered with Shell to develop a custom API SQ 0W-16 motor oil. This fully synthetic oil is engineered for the specific demands of a range extender, offering low consumption, stable lubrication, and efficient energy use through its viscosity and temperature characteristics. It also includes additives to prevent oxidation and maintain cleanliness, prolonging its effectiveness.

Furthermore, the Pengcheng series incorporates an intelligent health monitoring system for the oil. This system dynamically assesses the oil's condition based on driving patterns and environmental factors. Vehicle owners can view the oil's status via the car's infotainment system or the Xiaomi Auto mobile app, which also provides timely service reminders.

Beyond the range extender, standard vehicle maintenance items such as cabin air filters, brake fluid, and general inspections will continue to follow official service guidelines. Detailed maintenance information will be provided in the user manual and accessible through the vehicle's interface and the Xiaomi Auto app.
