Xiaomi Auto Clarifies: 'Pengcheng' Not a Sub-brand, Two Models Planned
Xiaomi Auto has clarified that its 'Xiaomi Pengcheng' (SkyNomad) series is not a sub-brand but a new line of intelligent, large-space SUVs. The company plans to release two models within this series.

Xiaomi Auto has addressed inquiries regarding its new automotive series, clarifying that "Xiaomi Pengcheng" (also known as SkyNomad) is not a sub-brand but rather a distinct series of intelligent, large-space SUVs under the Xiaomi Auto umbrella.
The company explained that the Pengcheng series is designed to cater to users seeking a mobile living space, focusing on how occupants can live more freely within the vehicle. This positions it as a parallel offering to the SU7 and YU7 series, which prioritize driving dynamics, safety, and intelligent control. Both series will feature the MI logo and adhere to consistent standards in research, quality, safety, sales, and service.
Developed on the new "Xiaomi Kunlun" technology architecture, the SkyNomad SUVs are engineered for flexible interior space. The initial plan includes two models: a five-seater and a seven-seater configuration, both utilizing a range-extended powertrain. Xiaomi Auto stated that this expansion into larger SUVs follows the success of their initial sedan and SUV models, driven by deeper market understanding and enhanced manufacturing capabilities.
Extensive testing, totaling over 4.28 million kilometers with 566 test vehicles, has been conducted to ensure durability and performance across various extreme conditions. The series will offer a pure electric range of up to 380km under WLTC conditions, with a minimum fuel consumption of 5.7L/100km when the range extender is active. A CLTC pure electric range exceeding 500km is also projected. Specific launch dates have not yet been announced.
